8-Hour PRAnayama training

PRANAYAMA: BREATH AS MEDICINE

An 8-Hour Online Training with Dani Hébert
January 16–17 | 12–4pm PST | Online

Pranayama is more than a collection of breathing techniques. Within the yoga tradition, the breath is a bridge between body, mind, nervous system, and awareness.

This 8-hour training explores pranayama through the lens of the Krishnamacharya lineage, bringing together classical yogic teachings, breath-centred practice, nervous system understanding, and therapeutic application.

Together, we will explore how intelligent breath practices can support mental wellbeing, cultivate awareness, regulate energy, and create greater capacity for presence and connection.

The training will include both the theory and practice of pranayama, with attention to the individual experience of breath rather than simply learning techniques to reproduce.

We will explore:

  • The relationship between prana, breath, mind, and nervous system

  • Breath observation and developing sensitivity to the individual breath

  • The therapeutic application of pranayama

  • The relationship between movement, breath, and awareness

  • Exhalation, breath pauses, and the effects of different breathing patterns

  • The role of Jalandhara and other traditional techniques

  • Nadi Shodhana and classical pranayama practices

  • How breath practices can be adapted to support different people, needs, and states

  • The importance of observation, pacing, and context when working with breath

  • How to approach pranayama as a practice of relationship rather than performance

Rooted in the teachings of Krishnamacharya and his students, this training draws from the work of teachers including Srivatsa Ramaswami, Ganesh Mohan, and Sri Shubha, while bringing these teachings into a contemporary and accessible framework.

This is an experiential training. We will practice together, observe, reflect, and learn how to listen to the breath as information.

No previous pranayama specialization is required. The training is appropriate for yoga teachers, practitioners, wellness professionals, and anyone interested in developing a deeper and more nuanced relationship with the breath.
