YOGA AS MIND MEDICINE: the Yoga for mental health protocol

From Suffering to Solution: My Journey to "Yoga as Mind Medicine"

For over 30 years, I’ve been fascinated by the intricate dance between the brain, the mind, our moods, and the mental health challenges that can make life feel impossibly heavy and dark. This deep curiosity didn't begin in a classroom—it started with my own crippling struggle.

For 15 years, I was buried under piles of diagnoses, a carousel of treatments and medications, and immense suffering. But all those experiences planted a seed of defiant hope: there had to be another way. I instinctively felt that a natural path to healing and stability existed.

Fortunately, my seeking led me to the transformative, healing power of Yoga. It brought stability, clarity, and relaxation to a mind once gripped by chaos. And I have been sharing that practice ever since.

Now Seeking: Volunteers for My New Mental Health Protocol

After thousands of hours of training, and years of dedicated practice and teaching, I'm ready to formalize a program that encapsulates everything I've learned, both academically and experientially: Yoga as Mind Medicine: The Natural Mental Health Protocol.

Yoga, at its core, is the mastery of mental focus and control. If you want to heal your mind, you must be willing to work on your mind with Yoga.

I am now seeking 8 committed volunteers for an 8-week pilot program.

Who I’m Looking For:

If you are currently experiencing mild to extreme symptoms related to depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges, and you are ready to make a fundamental change in how you manage your disorder, I want you.

Don't let symptoms feel like a life sentence. I KNOW that change is possible, and if you feel even a slight twinge of curiosity or hope when you read this, please keep reading.

Your Commitment (8 Weeks):

  • Practice 20+ minutes daily. You will receive online classes to follow on your own time (all levels are welcome and are modifiable for chair practitioners as well as advanced physical practitioners).

  • Join a weekly individual or small group session for coaching, targeted motivation, and support. This is also where you will give me crucial feedback to help formalize and strengthen this protocol.

My Commitment to You:

  • I will guide you through a tested protocol designed to help you take control of your mind and mood.

  • I bring a comprehensive background, utilizing my expertise in Yoga Therapy, university and master’s level therapy courses, and years of experience serving those with mental health struggles.

This program is entirely free. I only ask for your committed effort and honest feedback. Sessions will be held online, making them accessible to committed individuals in the Syilx Territory where I live and the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territory, where my studio @oneyogavan is located, or anywhere else in the world, virtually!

If you are ready to invest 8 weeks into your mind and your practice, I'm ready to invest in you. Together we will take control and overcome.
